Bloomingburg man dies in two-vehicle collision east of Wilmington

UNION TOWNSHIP — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred on Friday, Sept. 22 at 3:26 p.m. on U.S. 22 at Stone Road.

Preliminary investigation is that a 2007 Yamaha motorcycle, operated by Jacob Anders, 22, of Bloomingburg, Ohio was eastbound on U.S. 22 and slowed to make a left turn onto Stone Road. A 2007 Volkswagen Jetta, operated by Tyler Stewart, 20, of Leesburg, Ohio failed to slow and struck the motorcycle in the rear, according to a media release from the patrol.

Both vehicles ran off the right side of the road, and the driver of the motorcycle was ejected, the patrol stated.

Anders, the driver of the motorcycle, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Anders was not wearing a helmet, the patrol stated.

There are no injuries reported at this time to Stewart, the driver of the Volkswagen Jetta.

Patrol stated Stewart was wearing a seat belt.

The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
