Maze to open for family fun

WILMINGTON — As the leaves start to change, the Colletts want you to come and celebrate Fall with them.

Pot-Luck Greenhouse’ first Amazeing Fall Festival takes place on weekends Saturday, Sept. 30 through Sunday, Nov. 5 at 6555 State Route 73 West near Wilmington.

“In the fall what we’ve typically done is sell mums and now we just wanted to expand. We got a storefront, we’ve got plenty of room to do stuff, and it seemed like a good way to get into Fall,” said Nathan Collett, Pot-Luck’s general manager.

The idea came from Nathan’s mother, Karla, then the two of them came up with ideas for it along with his brother Josiah.

Attendees will be able to take a hayride through an Indian corn and sunflower field, pick their own pumpkin and check out a five-acre corn maze. But Nathan said that people can expect a lot more than just a usual hayride or corn maze.

The $10 admission gets you a hayride, access to the corn maze, family-friendly games like giant corn hole, a 500-bale straw maze for the kids, bouncy houses, a rubber duck racing game, and a thing of corn for kids to swim in.

“It’s not going to be one of those things where you show up, get herded through like cattle and try to get them out as soon as possible,” said Nathan. “This is something you should be able to stay for several hours and enjoy.”

Nathan described the event as not a Halloween event, but more of a fall/harvest party where they want to invite your family to hang out with theirs.

There will be family entertainment, a bouncy house, food vendors and local honey, mums and apple cider.

Hours of operation: Fridays maze open only from 4 to 10 p.m. (flashlight needed after 8 p.m.); Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. flashlights needed after 8 p.m. in the maze so bring with you or buy one from Pot-Luck; and Sundays from noon to 7 p.m.
