WILMINGTON — Everybody is invited to drop off their broken, unused, or obsolete electronic devices, small home appliances, or rechargeable batteries at an electronic recycling event to be held locally on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 9 a.m. to noon.

The morning event will be held at the Jobs & Family Services parking lot, 1025 S. South St. in Wilmington.

Products accepted include keyboards, cell phones, remotes, LCD screens, copiers, phones, flat-screen TVs, laptops, small home appliances, rechargeable battery tools, and many others.

A complete list of items accepted may be found at cohenusa.com . A rule of thumb: If it uses batteries or it plugs in, it is accepted.

The products are disassembled at a Cohen facility in Middletown. Schools, churches and small businesses are welcome to drop off items, too.

There is no residency requirement.

“Let’s fill the semi and keep these products out of a landfill,” stated a spokesperson.

The event is sponsored by the Clinton County Foundation and the Clinton Streamkeepers.

Some old TVs or monitors may contain lead, posing potential health risks. There is a fee, payable by cash or check on site for the following: CRT monitors $10; tube type TVs up to 27 inches $20; and tube type TVs more than 27 inches $30.

The fee will go toward proper and safe disposal of CRT monitors and TVs with tubes.
