Veterans ceremony set for Saturday

The Clinton County Veterans Day ceremony, including the dedication of newly installed veterans bricks at the Memorial, will be held on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, which falls on a Saturday this year.

The ceremony will start at 10:30 a.m. and end about 11 a.m. The annual event will be held at the Clinton County Veterans Memorial, located at the corner of Walnut and Main Streets on courthouse square in downtown Wilmington.

The guest speaker will be City of Wilmington Treasurer Paul Fear. There will be a roll call of the veterans who are named on the paver bricks that have been newly installed at the Memorial.

Music will begin at the Memorial about 10 a.m.

“We will appreciate people attending to honor veterans on Veterans Day,” said Clinton County Veterans Service Commission Executive Director Ray Souder.

WHS theater presents

‘Peter and the Star Catcher’

WILMINGTON — This weekend Wilmington High School will stage three performances of “Peter and the Star Catcher”, WHS theater’s fall production.

Show times are Friday, Nov. 10 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 11 at 7:30 p.m., and a matinee on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. The location is the WHS auditeria.

“Peter and the Star Catcher” tells a “backstory” for the character of Peter Pan and his arch-nemesis Captain Hook, according to the Wilmington City Schools website.

The young Peter Pan meets Molly, who is on a mission to save the world and protect a treasure trunk filled with magical star stuff from getting into the hands of greedy pirate Black Stache. As young Peter and Molly travel aboard the Neverland ship headed for a land far, far away, the two learn about love and friendship and forge an unbreakable bond.

Eat at B-Dub’s for CM athletics

Beacon Orthopaedics is proud to provide the sports medicine care for Clinton-Massie High School, and they are partnering with Buffalo Wild Wings in Wilmington to host a fundraiser for the school’s athletic department on Wednesday, Nov.15.

On that day 15 percent of revenue will be given to the school’s athletic department.

Dr. Angel Velazquez from Beacon will be there, as will some corporate representatives from Buffalo Wild Wings.

Story Times set at libraries

Story Times for preschool children are held weekly at the Wilmington Public Library and Clinton-Massie Branch.

The theme of Story Times for Nov. 12-18 is “Thanksgiving.”

Main Library:

• Wednesdays 10 a.m. — Toddlers (18 months-3 years)

• Wednesdays 11 a.m. — Pre-K (3 years-kindergarten)

• Thursdays 9 a.m. — Babytime (Birth-18 months)

• Thursdays 10 a.m. — All ages

Clinton-Massie Branch

• Tuesdays 11 a.m. — All ages

Doctor named to MHRS board

The Ohio Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services has appointed a Maineville physician to the Board of Directors of Mental Health Recovery Services of Warren & Clinton Counties. Dr. Shelley Stanforth will be sworn in to her new role on the board at its regular board meeting Nov. 15.

Dr. Stanforth practices medicine at Maineville Family Physicians, where she has worked in independent practice since 2008. She had previously practiced at Clinton Memorial Hospital and Wilmington Medical Associates.

Dr. Stanforth earned her MD in 1992 from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Her first term with the MHRS Board of Directors ends in June 2021.
