The Health Alliance of Clinton County (HACC) held its quarterly meeting at the Cape May Campus Center on the evening of Oct. 24.

President Louanne Blumberg welcomed 27 members, guests and three of her family members. HACC Vice President Kathleen Havey proceeded with the invocation followed by a delicious fall buffet dinner.

Following dinner, HACC Scholarship Committee member Pat Richardson proceeded with a brief history of the scholarships and recognition of the three recipients. She said the Scholarship Fund was established in 2011 to say “Thank you” to the many employees of Clinton Memorial Hospital who supported the HACC fundraising projects at the hospital.

Since that time the HACC’s projects have grown and expanded within the Clinton County Community. Subsequently, HACC has also expanded the scholarship eligibility to include many other healthcare offices in Clinton County.

This year three scholarships of $2,000 each are being awarded to the following individuals:

Jennifer Sparks works as a Medical Assistant with Dr. Rodel Cacas at East Clinton Medical Services. She attends Clark State Community College and is studying to become a registered nurse(RN).

Cassandra Tagg has worked as an RN at Clinton Memorial Hospital for six years. She is attending Ohio University to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.

Sidney Brewer has worked as a Technician Intern at Long’s Pharmacy with Bobbi Schlaegel for two years. She will attend the University of Cincinnati Pharmacy School to obtain her Doctor of Pharmacy degree.

Teresa Daniels, Director of Human Resources at Clinton Memorial Hospital, thanked the HACC for providing scholarships to the three very deserving individuals.

Ms. Blumberg conducted the quarterly business meeting. The minutes, financial report and committee reports were presented. Louanne thanked Jennifer Hollon and Ann Johnson for their diligent work as committee chairs for the upcoming Holiday Ball. She also recognized Susan Kocher and Patti Cook for their outstanding work as the Holiday Ball Auction committee chairs.

Following the business meeting HACC member Joann Chamberlin proceeded with the installation of officers and board members for 2018. The new officers and board members include: Kathleen Havey, President; Debra Hale, Vice President; Mary Camp, Secretary; Sharon Johnson, Assistant Secretary; Cindy Petrich, Treasurer; Bobbi Schlaegel, Assistant Treasurer; Louanne Blumberg, Past President; Jane Bosworth and Betty Lou German, Board Members.

The evening concluded with a tribute to our outgoing President, Louanne Blumberg. A few members discussed the contributions Louanne has made to our community and the HACC over the past years.

Louanne has always been a very active volunteer in our community. She is a charter member the Cancer Patient Assistant Program (CPAP) committee. The members are very grateful to have had Louanne’s dedication and leadership throughout her tenure as President of the Health Alliance.

The evening concluded with a musical tribute to Louanne. Members in honor of her years of service sang songs from the “Sound of Music.” It was a very enjoyable evening for all members and guests.

The Holiday Ball is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2. It is wonderful evening of dining and dancing with a fabulous live and silent auction. The holiday decorations enhance a festive atmosphere creating a great way to celebrate the holiday season. All proceeds will benefit CPAP.
