Davis excels at National History Day

Blanchester Middle School student Richard Davis competed in the national finals of the Kenneth E. Behring National History Day contest at the University of Maryland June 15-19. He competed in the individual website category with a website titled, “Alexander Fleming: Leading the Way to Modern Pharmaceuticals.” He was competing against 100 other entries in this category, representing all 50 states and seven other U.S. territories and countries.

After the first round of judging, Richard was named as one of 14 finalists that moved on to a final round of judging. In the final round, he finished in eighth place nationally. During his trip to the national finals, Richard visited the U.S. House of Representatives, Senate, Supreme Court and the Pentagon.

Clarksville UMC to participate in Heritage Days

Clarksville United Methodist Church will be serving food and holding a quilt show and art exhibit beginning at 11 a.m. Friday for the Clarksville Heritage Days Festival.

Skatepark closed this week

The skatepark at the J.W. Denver Williams Jr. Memorial Park will be closed this week for repairs and construction.
