WILMINGTON — The Clinton County Alliance for Compassion and Truth (A.C.T.) will sponsor a public march this Saturday, Jan. 20, between noon and 1 p.m. at the Clinton County Courthouse, to correspond with the international “Weekend of Women.”

The mission of this year’s Women’s March is to harness the political power of diverse women and their communities to create transformative social change, with focuses on voter registration and active participation in the political process.

Voter registration forms will be available at the local event, stated a news release submitted by A.C.T.

The 250 Weekend of Women marches, rallies, and activities will mark the first anniversary of the 2017 Women’s March, when five million people marched in cities and towns in the United States and around the world to promote equality under the law, tolerance, justice, and safety for all.

Grounded in the nonviolent ideology of the Civil Rights movement, the 2017 Women’s March was the largest coordinated protest in U.S. history and one of the largest in world history.
