SABINA — The Sabina Historical Society met at the museum on Thursday, Jan. 11.

The committee chairs to serve for 2018 were elected as follows: Collections, Ginny Vandervort; Membership, Rick Kendall; Finance, Jim and Vickie Mongold; Public Relations, Bonnie Starcher; and nominations, Vickie and Jim Mongold.

The officers elected at our December annual meeting held at the C.O.V.E. with a meal served by Shoelaces Catering were: President, Carl Anders; Vice President, Tom Mitchell; Treasurer, Rick Kendall; and Secretary, Susan Kempner. Also approved at the annual meeting was the change in our bylaws to have the annual meeting on the first Thursday in December instead of the third Sunday in November.

A program presented by Rick Kendall at the December dinner was enjoyed by everyone as he showed slides of items around Sabina that we drive by all the time. Those present participated by trying to guess what the items were and where they are located.

In lieu of crowning a queen this year, Rick Kendall was presented with a court jester’s hat and shorts for his work with the society.

Dates for upcoming events are Oct. 6 for the cemetery walk, April 22 for the antique program, and Dec. 6 for the 2018 annual meeting.
