‘Snow Queen’ opens K&C 22nd season

Shown is the cast of “The Snow Queen,” Clinton County Kids & Company’s latest production. The show will take place Friday, June 26 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, June 27 at 1 p.m. at the Wilmington High School Auditoria.

WILMINGTON – Clinton County Kids & Company will open its 22nd season this summer by presenting “The Snow Queen” on Friday, June 26 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, June 27 at 1 p.m. at the Wilmington High School Auditoria.

This show will feature over 30 local children and teens. Admission is free and The Crave Candy and Nuts will be selling treats before and after the show. Donations will be accepted at the door.

This adventure of “The Snow Queen” was written and directed by Ken Lydy, Associate Dean of Students at Wilmington College. Tara Lydy, Director of the Center for Service and Civic Engagement at Wilmington College, is designing the costumes for the show. Lois A. Hock, Professor of Theatre at Wilmington College and Managing Director of Kids & Company, is supervising the production and overseeing the sets and lighting.

This classic, originally written by Hans Christian Anderson, is a tale in seven stories. It follows the adventures of a young girl, Gerta, in her quest to find a young boy, Kal. During her journey Gerta meets many interesting people and animals until ultimately coming face to face with the Snow Queen herself. This story is an example of how love and kindness can triumph over the coldest of evil.

Emma Heys is the stage manager and lighting operator. Erin Moore is serving as costume/dance assistant for the production. Rehearsal assistants are Emma Ballein, Nick Allen and Molly Boatman. Hannah Joeckel has created a special dance for the play.

The cast includes: Alana Walker as the Narrator and Grandma, Gerta is performed by Katie Murphy, Kal is played by Eli Peelle and the Snow Queen is played by Tori Kocher. The Snow Queens Army and Little Sprites are performed by Marah Roush, Sydney McCord, Avalynne Goins, Vanessa Calderone, Jenna Earley, and Lindsay Lydy. The Master Sprite/Old Man is played by Tyler Hebb.

The River is Jordyn Snarr, the Old Flower Woman is Chloe Mason and the Flowers are Jillian Snarr, Bryn Tippett, Veronica Calderone and Allie Rae Roush. The Children are being played by Zander Johnson, Larkyn Johnson, Sydney Bennett, Lucy Kramer and Madeline Lamb. Mr. and Mrs. Crow are played by Luke Campbell and Layna Tippett. The Chief of the Bandits is Allison Puckett and her Bandit crew includes Griffin Snarr, Michael Shobe, Reagan Henry and Audrey McKay. The Robber Girl is Ella Thompson, Reindeer is Jocelyn Engel, the Pigeon is Emma Trimble and Old Woman is Sarah Wueller.
