WILMINGTON — Wilmington Kiwanis Club welcomed guest speaker Eleanor Harris, Executive Director of Harvest of Gold, to the Thursday, March 15 club meeting.

She spoke about the program goals and the five components of it which consist of Ohio Reads-After School & Summer Program, Tutoring Program, Bicycle Incentive, Recreation Program, and starting a new component focusing on learning local and national black history.

On Saturday, March 18 in Columbus at the Ohio District Mid Year Education Day, Wilmington Kiwanis was recognized with an Ohio Award for participating in the First Lady District Service Project, the weekend food pack program for school children.

Many children do not have reliable source of food at home. They depend on school lunches and breakfast, which leaves them without food for the entire weekend.

The Wilmington Kiwanis Club collected granola bars, fruit cups, apple sauces & toaster tarts to give to the large collection of food that was collected throughout the Ohio District for the First Lady Kiwanis Service Project.
