WILMINGTON — CMH Regional Health System is holding its fourth annual free health screening event 6 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, May 17 in the main atrium of Clinton Memorial Hospital.

This year, CMH will offer free screenings for diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, high cholesterol/lipid disorders, and skin cancer; please note that skin cancer screenings will only be offered 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

Greg Nielsen, CEO of CMH, highlighted the importance of this event and the hospital’s community outreach goals,

“This event is really important to us, as we continue to grow our services and offer more to community members in the way of preventive health and wellness,” Nielsen said. “In the years we’ve offered this annual event, we’ve seen hundreds of patients, and among those, several with critically high results that needed emergency intervention, and many more who were able to translate their screening results into lifestyle changes or conversations with their primary care providers. We consider basic health screenings a vital part of our outreach efforts each year, and we hope we have an opportunity to reach even more people this year.”

Those interested in the high cholesterol/lipid disorder screening are advised to fast for 9 hours prior to arriving. Attendees should continue to drink water and take prescription medications while fasting.
