As the Blanchester academics department continues to prove itself with outstanding achievements in both testing and application — as shown by the 2015 Believe in Ohio competition, in which they won over $30,000 — the students continue to go above and beyond by hosting a Science Demonstration.
While mixing the Halloween season with their scholarly prowess, the college chemistry students of Mrs. Harpen’s Honors Chemistry class recently entertained the fourth-grade class with a blend of story and spirit. As expected, they provided them with both a scientific trick as well as treat.
The class provided a presentation of bite-size science, just enough to sate the appetites of the younger students. With various bubbling brews and transforming toothpastes (literally), the older students found themselves crossing the borders between magic and chemistry — all the while giving the fourth-graders an optimistic outlook on their own futures in science.
This is just one of the many examples of Blanchester raising the bar, not only for their competing districts, but for the future of Blanchester’s success as well.
