WHS names March Students of the Month

WILMINGTON — The Wilmingotton High School Students of the Month for March:

Business Department — Keiarra Huston

PLTW Engineering would like to nominate Keiarra Huston. Keiarra has been working hard in Principles of Engineering class. She is always willing to try new ideas and help others.

English Department — Gabriela Garlo

Gabriela stands out in English class as someone who really has a love for English. She wrote a powerful story and even submitted it to a state-wide contest. She has successfully balanced the demands of her journalism class and her Honors English 2 class. We are proud of her hard work and her dedication to writing.

Social Studies Department — Mikayla Bond

Mikayla always comes to class ready to go. She consistently has a positive attitude and puts forth her best effort every day.

Science Department — Lilly Middleton

Lilly Middleton is our Science Student of the Month. Lilly does top-quality work in Honors Physical Science and sets an outstanding example for other students.

Math Department — JJ Varner

JJ Varner is always prepared for class and takes his education seriously. JJ embraces challenging assignments and is a model student.

Health/PE Department — Cameron Young

Cameron Young is the PE/Health Student of the Month. Cameron has a great attitude and participates everyday with a smile and enthusiasm. Keep up the great work and effort.

FFA — Rachel Lowe

Rachel Lowe is nominated for students of the month in the Ag Department. Rachel Lowe is always willing to step up and get out of her comfort zone. Rachel has been very active in the FFA this year. She has participated in numerous CDE’s this year including Soil Judging, Equine Judging, Job Interview, General Livestock contests. She even is working on an agriscience fair project for State FFA Convention.

Foreign Language Department — Caley Osborn

Caley’s work habits and responsibility for asking questions and turning work in on time has improved tremendously.

Band Department — Rebecca Durflinger

Rebecca Durflinger is highly involved as a member of the band program. She performs in the Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Marching Band, and Pep Band. She is also a student aide where she takes great initiative on keeping things organized in the Band program. An accomplished flute player, Becca recently received praise on her piccolo playing by the OMEA Adjudicators during contest.

Theater Department — Alana Walker

Although I don’t have Alana in the classroom, she is in the current production of Grease. She works hard in rehearsals and brings energy to the stage. She is encouraging and fun to watch on stage, Her work ethic pushes other actors to do their best.

Food Service Department — Sydney Totten

Sydney Totten was very instrumental in assisting the food service department in resolving a cash handling issue with the cafeteria staff. Her honesty is greatly appreciated as she displayed excellent character as a person and WHS is proud to have her as a member of the student body.
