Has God invited you to join His work?

Have you ever thought about the fact that The Creator of the universe has called us into His confidence, told us His plans, and has asked us to be a partner with Him in His redeeming work? The early workers with Jesus definitely thought about it.

The Apostle Paul wrote in a letter to the church at Corinth “…we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us….” 2 Corinthians 5:20 NASB. Peter, one of Jesus’s best friends, wrote to us “[we] are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that [we] may declare the praises of him who called [us] out of darkness into his wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9 NIV.

Where has God called you to partner with Him recently? If you are a follower of Christ then God has called you to be one of His ambassadors for Him—an ambassador is an official acting as a representative of a nation. Don’t we represent Jesus when we go out and when we speak and when we listen?

If you are a follower of Christ then God has positioned you to be one of His workers—a royal priesthood—with access to God’s presence, to God’s power and to God’s wisdom! But what are we using that power and wisdom for? And better yet, where are we using that power and wisdom? “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7 NLT.

Are you really a Christ follower? If so, then your life should be displaying a work out of the courage, power, and love that God has given you through His Spirit.

Maybe you’ve just been waiting for the right moment. Maybe you are waiting to be His ambassador when times get tough or when there is an emergency in our community.

Maybe if God would just tell you where to work and what to do, you would move very quickly to obey. We already know that God has called you to be His ambassador and has given us His instructions: “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit teaching them to observe all that [Jesus] commanded….” Matthew 28:19-20 NASB. Who are you helping to become a disciple? Where are you teaching someone to obey what Jesus has taught?

Would you prayerfully consider if God is calling you to partner with Him with the Hope Over Heroin Event that is coming to Wilmington? Maybe this is the moment that God has set apart for you to begin your royal work. Maybe this is the moment that He is going to work through you to bring about real health, real help, and real hope!

Consider meeting this Sunday at 2 p.m. at 1025 S. South St. in a Community Prayer Gathering. We’ll be meeting at the site of the upcoming Hope Over Heroin Outreach.

Come and just pray — see if this is where God is asking you to partner with Him. Come and encourage what God is doing through so many of His ambassadors. God’s ambassadors will be praying, joyfully awaiting God to change our community through His priesthood.
