Quallen misses moving on by 0.33 seconds

Wilmington High School grad and University of Louisville swimmer Josh Quallen swam Friday in his second and final qualifying race of the U.S. Olympic Team trials in Omaha, Nebraska.

Swimming the the 100m Butterfly, Quallen’s time of 53.61 was 26th best out of 138 competitors — 0.33 seconds behind the 16th and final semifinal qualifier, who posted a 53.28.

Quallen also competed Thursday in the 200m Individual Medley. He did not qualify to move on, finishing 51st — with a time of 2:05.15 — out of 96 swimmers. The top-3 of the prelims were Ryan Lochte, Michael Phelps and Gunnar Bentz.
