WC women’s track, field fifth at Starks Open

BEXLEY – The Wilmington College women’s indoor track and field team finished fifth out of 12 teams Saturday at the Jessica Starks Open at Capital University.

Lauren Stacy led the way for the Quakers, finishing first in the weight throw 16.58 meters. She also was third in the shot put 12.84 meters.

Lisa Bailey was third in the long jump (4.95 meters) and Emma Burke was fourth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.81 seconds). Burke also earned seventh in the 400-meter dash 1:07.

Other top 10 finishes in the meet included Zara Zeller, eighth weight throw (12.35 meters); Miranda Gibson ninth long jump (4.24 meters) and eighth 400-meter dash (1:07.17); Ryan Allen eighth pole vault (2.60 meters); and Allison Helmke 10th 800-meter run (2:50.07).

Wilmington continues its season Feb. 2 at the Cedarville Invitational.
