Lady Hurricane blanks Mount Notre Dame 5-0

WILMINGTON – The Wilmington High School softball team defeated Cincinnati Mount Notre Dame 5-0 Saturday in a non-league game on the WHS diamond.

Olivia Veidt pitched a six-hitter and struck out five in her second shutout of the season.

Jena Rhoads had a double and homerun for WHS. Harlie Bickett had two hits and drove in two runs while Emily Self had two hits and one RBI.

“Our defense played really well,” WHS coach Brian Spurlock said. “They turned a beautiful 1-6-3 double play to end an inning.”

Wilmington is 7-5 on the year with the win.
