BATAVIA – Wilmington squandered a 3-0 lead and lost to Batavia 10-4 Monday night in SBAAC American Division baseball at BHS.

The Hurricane is 2-8 overall, 2-3 in the American.

Batavia wins its first league game, 1-4, and is 7-5 in all games.

Wilmington’s 3-0 lead was short-lived as the Bulldogs tied the game in the bottom of the first on four hits and a WHS error.

“We only managed three hits after the first inning,” WHS coach Brian Roberts said. “Batavia continued to hit pretty well throughout. We need to be more consistent throughout the game.”

Ben McAllister started on the mound “and battled” for three innings, Roberts said.

“Batavia … they hit the ball well and pitched well after the first inning,” said Roberts.
