MADEIRA — The Blanchester wrestling team finished seventh Saturday at the Madeira Invitational.
Brent Hopkins won the 120-pound weight class, claiming the title with a 10-5 decision over Travis Coovert of Boone Co. (Ky.).
Bethel-Tate won the tournament easily over runnerup Reading. Norwood, Boone Co. (Ky.), Wyoming, Batavia and Blanchester rounded out the top 7.
Mount Healthy, Taylor, Walnut Hills, Kings, Purcell-Marian, Withrow, Hughes, Goshen, McNicholas, Clermont Northeastern, Madeira, Miami Valley Christian Academy, Mariemont, Hillcrest and Lockland completed the field.
Clayton Schirmer was third for Blanchester at 126 pounds, pinning Dan Robins of Reading in 4:16 in the consolation match.
Ramiro Torres was fifth at 145 pounds, Simon Latchford was sixth at 138 pounds, Austin Walker was sixth at 182 pounds and Cade Huston was sixth at 220 pounds.
