WHS girls come up short at Lancer Baker Bash

FAIRFIELD — The Wilmington High School girls bowling team missed advancing to the finals of the Lancer Baker Bash bowling tournament here Sunday at Northwest Lanes.

All games were Baker games, where each of the five selected bowlers bowls a different frame.

Chasity Asher, Ashley Davis, Katie Hottinger, Hanna Lunsford, Mason Noland, Harlee Shelton and Sarah Waln competed for the Lady Hurricane.

Coach Joe Davis said his squad was up and down early but then the coaches had a talk with the team “about not playing so tight and playing loose and having fun,” said Davis.

“Not long after that, we bowled a 167, followed by a 181 and made a move up,” Davis said. “We could not get a break but the girls did seem to open up and start having smiles on their faces and were bowling better.”
