Irvin lifts Astros over WHS JV 40-39

East Clinton’s Griffin Irvin scored with 43 seconds to play and the Astros defeated Wilmington 40-39 in overtime Friday night in reserve boys basketball action at Fred Summers Court.

Irvin and teammate Alex Pence finished with 11 points each for the Astros.

Brendan Jenkins added seven and Cameron Conner scored five. Austin Hanners contributed four points and Tristan Hall chipped in two points.

Matt Smith led Wilmington with 10 points.

Curtis Gauche had nine and Zach Wyrick scored seven. Alex Wright scored five points while Dorian Taylor and Layne Griffith had three points each. Nathan Barker scored two points.
