The Blanchester Junior High School wrestling team finished second Jan. 16 at the Wilmington Invitational.

Coach Shane Conover said the team wrestled “very well” and several wrestlers (Anthony Doughman, Jessie Wright and Blake Richard) battled back through the consolation bracket to score key points for the team in its runnerup finish.

Kadin Berwanger, 13-0 with six pins on the year, was first at 110 pounds while James Peters, 10-1 on the season with eight pins, was first at 205 pounds.

Cameron Gibson was runnerup at 80 pounds while Andrew Frump was second at 142 and Thomas Dugger was second at 245.

Third-place finishers for the young Wildcats were Wright at 134 and Colt Conover at 150. Christian Stubbs at 205, Richard at 128 and Johnny Schirmer at 116 all finished fourth.
