John Cline caps illustrious ECJH wrestling career with SCOL title

East Clinton’s John Cline finished his wrestling season as the school’s first two-time South Central Ohio League junior high school wrestling champion.

The Astros competed in the league meet Saturday and finished sixth overall with 88 points.

Cline had three wins, all pins to earn the 142-pound championship. He finished the season with a 28-0 record with 28 pins, according to coach Andrew Ramsey. Cline, the school record holder for pins in a single season, finishes his JH career with a 53-5 record.

Brendon Walters was runnerup at 128 pounds for EC while Kamrin Debord was third at 80 pounds, Brayden Esposito was third at 92 pounds, Josh Cline was third at 134, Hayden Pirman was third at 150, Brayden Dotson was third at 160 and Kaleb Kingery was fourth at 122 pounds.

Coach Ramsey said the eight top-four finishers was the best in a league tournament in ECJH history.
