Big 2nd leads Felicity over Blanchester

BLANCHESTER — A dismal second quarter doomed Blanchester Thursday in a 64-49 loss to Felicity in SBAAC National Division girls basketball action at the BHS gym.

Blanchester is 1-3 overall and 0-3 in the National Division.

Felicity is 1-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference.

Holly Scott had four three-pointers and was the top BHS scorer with 22 points. Grace Irwin had 12 points.

Anna Swisshelm, a freshman at Felicity, led all scorers with 24 points, 16 of those points coming in the second half.

Blanchester went toe to toe with Felicity in the opening period.

Four players scored for the Ladycats with Irwin draining a pair of threes and Scott scoring five as BHS held a 15-13 lead.

But the wheels fell off in the second quarter. The Ladycats had just two points while the Lady Cardinals scored 21 to take a 34-17 lead.

Scott had 12 points in the third as Blanchester tried to rally but it was too little, too late.
