Future Spartans kicker has Wilmington ties

Matthew Coghlin, a senior at Archbishop Moeller High School, has signed to play football at Michigan State University.

The kicker is the son of Mark and Ann-Marie Coghlin of Mason. The former Ann-Marie Noland is a 1984 graduate of Wilmington High School. She is the daughter of Robert and Joyce Noland of Wilmington.

Brothers Joe Noland (1985) and John Noland (1992) also graduated from WHS.

Matthew Coghlin was a member of Moeller’s Div. I state championship football team in 2013.

In the classroom, Coghlin carries a 3.7 grade point average and had academic honors each quarter, according to a press release from Moeller.

He was 32-for-54 in field goals and 137-for-139 in extra points during his Crusaders career. He is a two-time All-Greater Catholic League kicker, a two-time All-Southwest District kicker and a two-time honorable mention All-Ohio kicker.

Coghlin participates in summer youth football camps and has taken part in Moeller’s Spanish Exchange Program.
