BLANCHESTER — A big second quarter by Bethel-Tate broke open a close game and sent Blanchester to a 78-27 defeat Monday in SBAAC National Division girls basketball action.

BHS coach Bradon Pyle said he was encouraged by the start for his Ladycats who trailed 14-9 after one.

“We were competitive and battled in the first quarter,” he said. “We showed we can hang with good teams but we have to make on-court adjustments actively in the game.”

The Tigers outscored the Ladycats 25-7 in the second and 18-5 in the third before closing with a 21-6 fourth quarter onslaught.

Grace Irwin and Holly Scott had six points each for BHS. Lilly Brown hauled down a team-best eight rebounds, Pyle added.

Blanchester is 2-14 overall, 0-12 in the National Division.

Bethel-Tate improves to 17-4 on the year, 10-2 and second in the division.
