BEAVERCREEK — The Clinton-Massie bowling season ended Thursday at Beaver-Vu Bowl in the Div. II Southwest District tournament.

On the boys side, Aric France had a 615 series. He bowled well but 650 was the final state qualifying score.

Jacob Wellman had a 575 series for the Falcons.

“The pins were not falling in our favor,” said CM coach Shonda Marburger. “For the boys team, we are not losing any seniors, so we will be ready to put forth our best to be competitive next year.”

For the girls, the team finished 14th out of 16 teams. Massie had a pinfall of 2,973 while district champion Springfield Northwest had 4,099.

“This was our first time to qualify for the district tournament and ‘nerves’ played a factor for a few of our girls,” Marburger said.

Josie Wolfe was “calm and relaxed” as she led the Lady Falcons with a 531 series (191, 181, 159) and was 23rd overall out of 103 bowlers. The final state qualifying score was a 653 for the girls.

Kathryn Wilson had a 458 series (153, 149, 156) and Katie Starnes had a 410 (127, 137, 146). Gwen Broderick had a 1553 game. Casey Cochran had games of 150 and 145.

“I am very proud of both the boys and girls team,” Marburger said. “They have shown great improvements throughout this year and the years past. I wish all of my seniors the best of luck in their new journeys and know that they will be missed. As to the returning bowlers, I look forward to next season and seeing the great success to come.”
