WHS winter teams honored for athletics, academics

The Wilmington High School winter sports awards program was held March 14 at the school with each team honoring its players and coaches.

The girls basketball program was led by varsity coach Mark Short, reserve coach Mike Brown and varsity assistant Ethan Short.

Varsity players are Emily Edingfield, Leah Frisco, Heather Fryman, Mya Jackson, Katlyn Jamiel, Je’Taysia Johns, Suzannah Johns, Sarah Quallen, Faith Sanderson and Tanner Stewart.

Reserve players were Tiara Harris, Heather Fryman, Savannah Morgan, Brooklyn Nielsen, Lyla Self, Sydney Shumaker, Jenna Victor, Aahlaysia Walker, Sidney Walker and Kaylyn Williams.

The state tournament Final Four boys basketball team head coach was Michael Noszka. Nick Molz was the varsity assistant, David Washington was the reserve coach, Jermaine Isaac was the freshman coach and Brian Long was an assistant coach.

Varsity team members were Dylan Beaugard, Jarron Cumberland, Layne Griffith, Jeffery Mansfield, Alex Miller, Nick Morris, Matt Smith, Cameron Stewart, Chris Wolary and Alex Wright.

Reserve players were Nathan Barker, Konstantin Beuttner, Zack Eden, Curtis Gauche, Layne Griffith, Montel Jones, Trey Keith, Tony Merritt, Adam Rosenwirth, Colt Smith, Dorian Taylor and Zach Wyrick.

Freshman players were Zane Carey, Zack Delaney, Je’Seus Harris, Mason McIntosh, James Miller, Willie Morris, John Stewart, Steven Sweeney, Jake Vaughan and Graham Vilvens.

Cheerleaders were honored by coach Jaime Hibbs and coach Sheena Henry.

Varsity cheerleaders were Kalista Adkins, Brittany Barnett, Alexis Carman, Kiona France, Ashlynn Hickey, Becca Jenkins, Katie Jordan and Ciera Stewart.

Reserve cheerleaders were Anna Baiocchi, Sarah Creditt, Mikayla Forney, Brittany Gregory, Lauren Hall, Katie Jones, Kimberli Nieto and Sydney Wright.

Freshman cheerleaders were Samantha Achtermann, Keeley Allen, Alexis Bowman, Leah Deck, Lauren Heard, Sydney Johnston, MeKenzie Jones and Ashley Tissot.

Head coach Kelly Tolliver and assistants Brad Bean, Mick Hodge and Jed Smith honored WHS wrestlers.

Wrestlers were Isaac Allen, Brady Bergefurd, Bryant Bergefurd, Jacob Boldman, Allister Brausch, Doug Eastes, Cannon Ford, Sawyer Garrison, Scott Gehlbach, Collin Greene, Trent Holliday, Briten Kessler, Gevin Kim, Wesley Lunsford, Cameron Smart, Gage Smith and RJ Tolliver.

Wrestling statisticians were Bristol Cantwell, Cheyenne Jarrell and Julie Tolliver.

Mitch Hopf is the head coach of the Wilmington boys and girls swim programs.

Boys swimmers were Andy Bush, Austin Carey, Jacob Disney, Xavier Disney, Ricky Dungan, Daniel Freese, Harrison Law, Drew Moyer, Sam Osborn and Elijah Schroeder.

Girls swimmers were Madison Adkins, Hannah Anderson, Holli Anderson, Jessica Angst, Morgan Bahr, Rachael Billups, Gethsemane Bray, Alison Dooley, Anna Garnai, Brianna Gilbert, McKinley Law, Alyssa Lewis, Olivia Lewis, Faith Long, Elaine Menguria, Lindsey Murphy, Carrie Robinson, Meredith Robinson and Kristina Walt.

The bowling teams were honored by head coach Joe Davis, coach John Halley, assistant coach Josh Fisher and assistant coach Courtnie Camp.

Girls bowlers were Chasity Asher, Ashley Davis, Rhyann Green, Katie Hottinger, Hanna Lunsford, Mason Noland, Harlee Shelton, Melanie Taylor and Sarah Waln.

Boys bowlers were Steven Bowman, Joshua Cordy, JT Croghan, Dakota Curtis, Heath Fetter, Ryan Hottinger, Sawyer Kratzer, Tyler Pringle, Tristan Reiley, Andrew Thompson, Timothy Wright, Zach Zeckser and Jake Zurface.

South Central Ohio League scholar athletes earned a varsity letter and have 3.5 or higher grade point average.

Wilmington scholar athletes participate in a winter sport and have a 3.2 or higher GPA.

The following earned Wilmington scholar athlete honors and those marked with * also earned SCOL scholar athlete honors.
