Big third rallies Hurricane past Wildcats

BLANCHESTER — The Wilmington High School boys junior varsity basketball team defeated Blanchester 40-33 Saturday night at the BHS gym.

WHS coach Luke Roy is a BHS graduate and former coach for the Wildcats.

The difference in the game was the third quarter. The Hurricane trailed 19-14 at halftime but outscored the Wildcats 17-4 in the third period.

Shane Griffin led Wilmington with 12 points while Zane Miller scored 10. The two Hurricane scoring leaders combined for 18 points in the second half.

Avery Warix and Logan Camp had six points each. Alex Lazic totaled four points and Jose Morales rounded out the scoring with a free throw.

For Blanchester, Gabe McVey led the way with 11 points.

Justin Hogsett and Bryce Sipple had six points each. Seth Akers tossed in five and Zach West added three. Andrew Osborn scored two points for BHS.
