Falcons soar 10-1, finish week unbeaten

ADAMS TOWNSHIP — Through the first week of the season, the Clinton-Massie baseball team is unbeaten and playing solid baseball. On Friday, the Falcons defeated McClain 10-1 in a South Central Ohio League game.

“Our defense thus far has been stellar,” CM coach Brian Camp said. “We have not allowed our opponents extra outs, which has been one of our strengths through this first week of play.”

The Falcons are 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the SCOL.

Aric France picked up the pitching victory with relief help from Wyatt Jefferson.

The game was scoreless headed to the bottom of the third when Massie erupted for five runs to seize control of the game.

Noah Greathouse hit a two-run homer to left-centerfield in the fourth, his first of the season. J.P. Cantrell, Camp’s “senior spark plug,” had three hits and two runs batted in for Clinton-Massie.

Max Murray had two hits and scored a pair of runs. David Poynter scored a pair of runs and Weston Trampler knocked in two teammates.
