ADAMS TOWNSHIP — The Clinton-Massie softball team upped its record to 4-0 with a doubleheader sweep of Beavercreek Saturday afternoon. The Lady Falcons won two games by scores of 9-4 and 7-1.
“I was very pleased with our defense; we only committed one error in two games,” CM coach Andy Lauer said. “With the wind blowing like it was, the girls did a great job. Madilyn Newton played stellar defense at the second base position.”
In the opener, Caitlyn Robinson had three hits, including a three-run homer. Emilie Fisher had three hits as well.
“Both seniors stepped up and were leaders,” said Lauer. “Both girls hit the ball very well. It was Caitlyn’s homerun that really got us going in the third.”
Claire Carruthers and Taylor Florea combined for a solid effort on the mound.
In the second game, Florea went the distance on the mound for the win.
“Taylor had another nice game,” Lauer said. “She was great hitting her spots plus we also continued our run of another great defensive game.”
Robinson and Fisher remained hot at the plate — both with three hits. Robinson hit another homerun and drove in three while Fisher had four runs batted in.
