HILLSBORO — Clinton-Massie parlayed a fast start into an easy 11-2 win Monday over Hillsboro in South Central Ohio League softball action on the HHS diamond.

The Lady Falcons, now 5-0 overall and 2-0 in league play, scored six runs in the first and never looked back.

Taylor Florea struck out 13 on the mound for CMHS and scattered seven hits to pick up the win.

“It was another cold, windy game,” CM coach Andy Lauer said. “Proud of my girls to block the distractions out and get ready to play.”

Hillsboro was the only SCOL team to defeat Clinton-Massie last season.

“We didn’t hit the ball as well as we normally do,” Lauer said. “We were able to make adjustments and capitalize on some errors.”

Clinton-Massie did not have any errors on defense, Lauer said.

“I can’t say enough how important it is to play good defense like we have been playing,” the coach said.

Madilyn Newton and Hailey Clayborn both had two hits, two runs scored and two runs batted in. Taylor Flanigan returned from injury and contributed a couple of RBI.
