LEES CREEK — Wilmington’s strength in the sprint events was good enough Thursday to edge out Fairfield’s strength in the distance events in a track and field meet at East Clinton High School.

Wilmington won four sprint events and finished with 64 points. Fairfield won four distance events and finished with 57 points.

East Clinton was third in the meet with 54 points.

Roby Clark won two events for the Hurricane, the 200-meter dash and the 300-meter hurdles.

Ryland Bowman won the long jump and was runnerup in the 400-meter dash for WHS.

East Clinton won the 4×200-meter relay. The best individual finish for EC came in the 100-meter dash where Anthony Osburn finished second and in the 300-meter hurdles where Wes Kidder finished as runnerup.
