Big 5th propels Blanchester softball to 13-4 win

BLANCHESTER — Sparked by an eight-run fifth inning, the Blanchester softball team cruised to a 13-4 win over Norwood Friday in a non-league game at the BHS diamond.

Blanchester is 5-5 overall while Norwood drops to 0-8.

Kassidy Abney homered and doubled for the Ladycats, while collecting two runs batted in and scoring two runs. Shayla Sicurella had three hits, two RBI and two runs scored. Shelbie Rose and Jay Dalton also had two hits each.

Katy Henry picked up her first varsity win with seven solid innings. She struck out seven and walked only one. The four runs allowed were all unearned.

Dakota Demitt played well in centerfield, BHS coach Jamey Grogg said.
