BHS girls 6th, boys 10th at Washington Invitational

WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE — The Blanchester High School girls track and field team finished sixth and the boys were 10th Friday at the Washington Invitational.

The Ladycats had 49.5 points while invitational winner Washington had 157.5 points. Circleville was second, Unioto third, Fairfield Christian fourth and McClain sixth.

On the boys side, Circleville won the meet with 118.5 points. Unioto was runnerup followed by Hillsboro, McClain, Fairfield Christian, Washington, Columbus Ready, South Webster, Fairfield and Blanchester.

Joey Holcomb had a relatively-easy win for BHS in the discus competition. His best toss of 139-1.5 was nearly nine feet better than the 130-8 effort that stood as runnerup.

Holcomb was second overall in the shot put, finishing just an inch shy of the first-place finisher. Holcomb’s best was 45-4.5.

Derrick Bowman was fifth in the 300-meter hurdles in 45.47 and sixth in the 110-meter hurdles in 18.58 seconds.

The top finisher for the BHS girls was Morgan Deless who was second in the discus with a toss of 91-5.

Regan Ostermeier earned a third-place finish in the shot put with a best toss of 32-10 and a third in the discus with a toss of 85-6.

The girls 4×400-meter relay team of Mckenzie Hamm, Olivia Gundler, Emma Gundler and Asia Baldwin finished third in 4:26.

The girls 4×800-meter relay team of Hamm, Olivia Gundler, Emma Gundler and Savannah Rhodes also finished third.

Baldwin was fifth in the girls 400-meter dash in 66.13 seconds and sixth in the girls 200-meter dash in 28.76 seconds.

BHS went 4-5 in the girls 800-meter run Hamm was fourth in 2:38.12 and Olivia Gundler was fifth in 2:39.14. Rhodes was eighth in the 1,600-meter run in 6:08.5.

Gracie Creager was eighth in the girls high jump. She cleared 4-4.
