WILMINGTON — For the eighth consecutive South Central Ohio League game, the Wilmington baseball team came out on top, this time defeating East Clinton 7-0 Wednesday at WHS.

The win puts Wilmington at 12-7 overall and 11-1 in the league.

It was Senior Night for the Hurricane with seniors Andrew Davis, Brad Keller, Brady McCune, Jordan Ianson, Marlyn Frisco and Alec Manser being honored.

Ianson was clearly in the spotlight on this night. The right-hander won his fourth game on the mound, striking out seven in seven innings. He gave up just three hits and walked only one. Ianson gave up one hit in the first then didn’t allow another hit until two out in the seventh.

“He was throwing hard and his breaking pitch was working well, too,” WHS coach Rick Kneisel said. “There was no question I was going to let him finish (despite giving up two hits in the seventh) and get the complete game, get the shutout.”

Wilmington had 10 hits total, bringing Kneisel to say “We didn’t hit as well as we had the last couple of nights.”

McCune led the offense with a couple of hits and drove in a row. Keller also had two hits. Stephen Krause had a hit and drove in two runs. Ianson also had an RBI.
