NEW RICHMOND — With a dominant performance, the Blanchester High School girls track and field team won the Southern Buckeye Athletic & Academic Conference National Division title Wednesday in a meet at New Richmond High School.
The Ladycats finished with 176 points, easily outdistancing runnerup Bethel-Tate by 81 points.
The Blanchester girls closed out the win with an easy victory in the 4×400-meter relay. The foursome of Mckenzie Hamm, Olivia Gundler, Mandy Gerlach and Emma Gundler ran 4:30.89 and won by nearly eight seconds.
The Blanchester boys were fourth overall.
On the boys side, Dakota Fisher ran 17.48 and won the 110-meter hurdles championship. He came back later and made it two league titles with a win in the 300-meter hurdles in 44.8 seconds. His teammate Derick Bowman was second in 45.2 seconds.
Fisher then ran with Dale Sturgill, Spencer Dissel and Sam Schafer to capture the 4×100-meter title in 47.12 seconds.
The 4×200-meter relay team of Noah Armocida, Dylan Miller, Bowman and Spencer Dissel ran 1;41.69 and finished second overall.
Bowman, Ricky Davis, Miller and Spencer Dissel ran the 4×400-meter relay in 3:51.93 and finished third.
Tyler Holland was fourth in the 3,200-meter run in 11:45.79 and fifth in the 1,600-meter run, finishing in 5:18.94. Schafer was sixth in the 200-meter dash in 24.79 seconds. Sean Holland was sixth in the 3,200-meter run in 12:02.64.
Back to the Blanchester girls, in the 1,600-meter run, BHS went 1-2 with Savannah Rhodes running 5:52.3 and Olivia Gundler clocking a 5:54.42.
Savannah Rhodes made it a distance double by winning the 3,200-meter run in 13:07.94. Sarah Ujlakyoya was third in the race in 13:57.98.
The Ladycats were 1-2 in the 400-meter dash with Emma Gundler hitting the line first in 63.69 seconds and Asia Baldwin following close behind in 64.51 seconds.
Asia Baldwin clocked a 13.6 in winning the 100-meter dash then ran 27.53 in winning the 200-meter dash.
Hamm was a winner in the 800-meter run, finishing first in 2;29.76. Olivia Gundler was third in 2:37.94.
The Ladycats 4×200-meter relay team of Gerlach, Hamm, Cheyenne Rhodes and Emma Gundler ran 1:55.42 and won by more than a second over runnerup CNE.
Destiny Pence was second in the 100-meter hurdles in 18.65 seconds.
Gerlach claimed a third-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 55.0 seconds. Pence was sixth in 61.05.
BHS was fifth in the 4×100-meter relay. The team of Gerlach, Audrey Jordan, Pence and Cheyenne Rhodes finished in 56.35 seconds.
On Monday, the first day of the league meet, Blanchester’s girls won the 4×800-meter relay as well as the shot put (Regan Ostermeier) and the discus (Morgan Deless).
