CHILLICOTHE — The Clinton-Massie girls 4×100-meter relay team broke a 17-year-old school record Wednesday on the final day of the South Central Ohio League Track and Field Championship at Chillicothe High School.

The foursome of Preslee Rolf, Courtney Gibson, Rachel Avery and Mallory Homan clocked 51.15 in winning the event. The old Clinton-Massie record of 51.7 seconds was established in 1999.

In the final team standings, Clinton-Massie was third overall. Chillicothe edged Washington for the girls championship.

“The girls had a very good meet,” CM coach Dean Richardson said. “I am proud of how each of the girls competed.”

Wilmington was sixth and East Clinton eighth.

“I am very pleased with the girls’ efforts,” CM coach Steve Sodini said. “We had a ton of PRs and are starting to peak at the right time in the season. I’m excited for how we will perform at the district meet next week.”

Clinton-Massie also had the only other first-place finish among the Clinton County schools as Jocelyn Burton smashed the discus field by more than 10 feet with a throw of 104-10.

The top finish for the Lady Hurricane came in the shot put where Ashlynn Hickey was third with a toss of 34-6.5.

East Clinton’s top scorer was Sam Gaddis who was sixth in the long jump at 13-10.75.
