4192: Pete Rose exhibit now open at the Reds HOF & Museum

CINCINNATI — A new exhibit chronicling Pete Rose’s quest to surpass Ty Cobb’s Major League record for most career hits is now open at the Reds Hall of Fame & Museum.

4192: Pete Rose and the Pursuit of Baseball’s All-Time Hit Record, sponsored by Clark Schaefer Hackett, explores Rose’s pursuit of the record that was long thought to be untouchable.

Through period artifacts, film and a graphic timeline, the story of the most prolific hitter in the game’s history is brought to life. Visitors can re-live the magical night of September 11, 1985 when Rose passed Cobb and set off a city-wide celebration like no other.

Artifacts and features of the exhibit include:

• Original, game-used baseballs from many of Pete’s 4000+ hits including all the balls from hit No. 4107 on April 18, 1985 to No. 4190 on September 8, 1985.

• Pete Rose game-warn jersey from September 11, 1985

• Section of Riverfront Stadium Astroturf where hit No. 4192 landed

• Game-used bat used by Rose on Opening Day 1985 when he collected two hits and drove in three runs in a 4-1 Reds victory

• Complete, unedited footage of hit No. 4192 complete with Marty & Joe’s original radio broadcast

The Reds Hall of Fame & Museum is located next to Great American Ball Park at 100 Joe Nuxhall Way, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45202.
