7 Ladycats score as BHS opens with 7-0 win

BLANCHESTER — Seven players scored and Blanchester opened its girls soccer season Tuesday with a 7-0 win over Felicity-Franklin in Southern Buckeye Athletic & Academic Conference National Division action.

On the strength of 33 shots, Ladycats goal-scorers were Bekah Sams, Merri Lindsey, Sierra Drake, Chloe Caplinger, Brianna Wilson, Taylor McQuitty and Emma Gundler.

Adding assists were Mckenzie Hamm, Kelsey Naylor and Drake with one each and Caplinger with two.

Sams scored the first goal of the match when Drake forced a Felicity turned deep in the box, BHS coach Kurt Ballinger said.

Lindsey’s goal sparked a three goal in six minute run that put the game away midway through the first half.

Blanchester led 5-0 at halftime.

Regan Ostermeier had a save in goal for the shutout.

“The victory was s complete team effort and the girls showcased an unselfish brand of soccer that we want to define our program this season,” Ballinger said.
