Blan JH volleyball sweeps Norwood in opener

NORWOOD — The Blanchester seventh and eighth grade volleyball teams swept their season opening matches with Norwood Tuesday night.

The eighth graders posted a 27-29, 25-15, 25-21 victory.

Casey Kingsland led the Ladycats with 21 service points, 13 aces, 3 kills and an assist. Caili Baumann had 16 service points, four aces and three kills. Lana Roy had 10 service points, six of those were aces.

Noelani Tongonan had five service points, three aces, a kill and two assists. Destiny Waldron and Maddie Wells had a service point each.

The Wildcats looked strong with six returning players and a few new girls that are putting together a net dominating eighth grade team, coach Jamie Kingsland said.

The seventh grade squad was a 25-17, 25-22 winner.

Madison Creager led the Ladycats with eight service points, seven of those were aces. Rianna Mueller had five service points and two aces. Sam Naylor had six points, with two aces.

Taylor Combs had two aces. Brooklyn Bockstiegel contributed three points, with two of those being aces. Daelyn Staehling also had a service point.

The girls played hard and continue to improve, Kingsland said of the seventh graders.
