WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE — Four players scored two or more goals as Wilmington defeated Washington 10-1 Thursday in a South Central Ohio League boys soccer match.

Charly Schumacher led the WHS offense with a three-goal hat trick.

“This was a must win for us,” WHS coach Imad El-Macharrafie said. “The boys were a bit tight at first but after they settled in, they played all out. We’re happy with the result.”

Wilmington is 12-2 overall and 11-0 in the SCOL.

Avery Greenless, Wyatt Kessler and Sam Spirk scored two goals each for the Hurricane. Garrett Neff rounded out the scoring with one goal.

Kessler and Spirk both had three assists while Eli Hicks and Fernando Marin had one assist each.

“We’re happy to see the team playing well in all phases …. goalkeeping, defense, midfield, offense in less than favorable conditions,” El-Macharrafie said. “We’re gonna get some rest and prepare for Lynchburg on Monday.”
