BETHEL — Regan Ostermeier posted her seventh shutout of the season as Blanchester defeated Bethel-Tate 1-0 Tuesday in a Southern Buckeye Athletic & Academic Conference National Divison girls soccer match at BTHS.

The win puts Blanchester at 6-1-5 overall and 5-0-4 in the league. The Ladycats can clinch the National Division crown with a win Wednesday at Georgetown.

Bethel-Tate falls to 5-6-2 overall and 3-4-2 in the league.

The Lady Tigers had the better of the play early in the match, BHS coach Kurt Ballinger said. But the Blanchester defense and keeper Ostermeier kept the match at 0-0 through the first half.

In the second half, Merri Lindsey split the Bethel-Tate defense and sent Gundler off to face the keeper. The BHS senior and recently crowned Homecoming Queen “deftly beat the keeper for the decisive score,” Ballinger said.

Savana Greene dominated the second half in the defensive midfield, Ballinger noted. Ostermeier had eight saves.
