Blanchester girls soccer rips Rockets 9-1

Emily Hinkle and Taylor McQuitty both scored three goals and Blanchester blasted Fayetteville 9-1 Saturday in non-league girls soccer action at Barbour Memorial Field.

Blanchester is now 7-1-6 with the win. The Ladycats also earned a share of the Southern Buckeye Athletic & Academic Conference National Division championship.

On Thursday, Williamsburg defeated Bethel-Tate, which meant a share of the league crown for both Blanchester and WHS. The title is the third SBAAC girls soccer crown for Blanchester and the first for WHS.

Emma Gundler, who went solo off an attempted FHS clearing pass to register her fourth goal of the year, Sally Schaeffer, who tallied her first career goal, and Mckenzie Hamm, with her second of the year, also scored goals for Blanchester.

Gundler and Chloe Caplinger had two assists each while Hinkle and Merri Lindsey had one assist each.

Regan Ostermeier and Brianna Haun had one save each in goal for Blanchester.
