MOUNT ORAB — The Blanchester High School boys soccer season ended Monday with a 4-0 loss to Western Brown in a Div. II sectional tournament matchup at WBHS.

The Wildcats finish with a 7-7-3 record.

Western Brown, the No. 5 seed in the tournament, is 12-1-4 and will meet Monroe 7 p.m. Thursday in the second round of the tournament.

The Broncos also were the champions of the Southern Buckeye Athletic & Academic Conference American Division.

BHS coach Troy Ballinger said the Wildcats trailed 1-0 at halftime and “was making a strong stand until a couple of unlucky deflections against them altered the course of the match.”

Dakota Penquite made seven saves and Wesley Mitchell stopped three shots in goal for the Wildcats.

“Despite having a few rough patches along the way, we managed to pull off their third winning season in a row,” Ballinger said. “We will graduate two-time All-Southwest keeper Dakota Penquite, attacker Sam Schafer, midfielder Bryce Dickison, and defenders Cameron Crosley and Eli McEntire all of whom were starters and vital in the Wildcats success over the past years.”
