Former members of the South Central Ohio League have officially become part of a new league which was formally named the Frontier Athletic Conference last month.

The Ohio High School Athletic Association recently recognized the new high school athletic league. Chillicothe, McClain, Hillsboro, Miami Trace and Washington will be joined by Jackson as members of the FAC beginning in the fall of 2017, according to a press release from the new league

The conference Board of Control, consisting of high school principals from each school, along with their athletic directors, voted to approve the conference name in September. Anticipated sports vying for league titles will be:

Fall: Boys and girls cross country, boys and girls golf, football, boys and girls soccer, girls tennis and volleyball.

Winter: Boys and girls bowling, boys and girls basketball, boys and girls swimming and wrestling

Spring: Baseball, softball, boys tennis, and boys and girls track and field.

The Board of Control also named Terri Tutt as the conference commissioner. She comes to the position having been a coach, referee, athletic director, member of the Southeast District Athletic Board, and OHSAA Field Service Representative.

Moving forward from this point, the commissioner and athletic directors will be writing bylaws for approval by the Board of Control. The goal is to have the Frontier Athletic Conference operational by January 1, 2017, the press release stated.

“The commissioner, Board of Control, and the athletic directors are excited to bring a quality league together and look forward to great sportsmanship and competition in the future of the Frontier Athletic Conference,” the league release said. “The conference hopes to have a working relationship with all area leagues and conferences, and looks forward to Aug. 1, 2017, as the fall season begins initial contests in the Frontier Athletic Conference.
