EC volleyball drops opener at SE

SOUTH CHARLESTON — The East Clinton volleyball team opened its season Saturday with a 10-25, 13-15, 20-25 loss to Southeastern in a non-league match with its former Kenton Trace Conference rival.

“We had first-game jitters that we didn’t get over until it was too late,” said EC coach Sarah Sodini. “Southeastern hit well. We had several service errors that cost us the game.”

Sam Gaddis had six assists, two digs and an ace for the Lady Astros. Mindy Bean contributed two aces, three points, four kills and two digs. Kayla Hall had two points, a kill and a block.

Kenzie Campbell finished with three points, three kills, three blocks and a dig. Paige Lilly had three points, two kills and three digs. Kate Durbin had an ace, three points, a kill, two blocks and a dig. Alexis Haines had four digs.

East Clinton is now a member of the South Central Ohio League. Southeastern is a member of the Ohio Heritage Conference.
