BHS boys win soccer opener 7-2

FELICITY — Scoring early and often, the Blanchester boys soccer team defeated Felicity 7-2 Tuesday in Southern Buckeye Conference action on the FHS pitch in the season opener.

Senior Christian Woodyard started off the scoring with senior captain Logan Swinderman following with a pair of goals to put BHS up 3-0. Topher Farrow rounded out the first half scoring with a goal.

Senior Sam Schaffer scored two goals before Felicity finally got on the scoreboard.

Bryce Minge, a senior, ended the Cardinals short-lived run with a goal to wrap-up the scoring.

Senior captain Daulton Stevens led the defensive effort, coach Troy Ballinger said, along with senior newcomer Justin Casey, junior Eli McEntire and sophomore Brant Bandow.

Junior captain Dakota Penquite had nine saves in goal as well as “an overwhelming field presence,” Ballinger said.

Assists for BHS went to senior captain Dade Coyle, sophomore Nevan Coyle, Minge, Schafer, Swinderman and two by Farrow.

Blanchester is 1-0 on the year.
