Football leads WC’s All-OAC academic honorees

AUSTINTOWN – The Ohio Athletic Conference announced the 2016 All-OAC Fall Academic selections and 15 Wilmington College student-athletes were among the 302 student-athletes honored.

The football team had the most selections with four, led by senior David Henry (Wilmington, OH/Wilmington; Sport Management) with a school-high 3.99 grade point average. Juniors Luke Creditt (Wilmington, OH/Waynesville; Business Administration/History, 3.74), Sam Tedtman (Louisville, KY/Atherton; Sport Management/Athletic Training, 3.67) and Ryan Prince (Urbana, OH/Urbana; Education/Spanish, 3.58) rounded out the football selections.

Senior Travis Scheadler (Goshen, OH/Goshen; Psychology, 3.97) led three cross country athletes, followed by sophomores Matthew Baker (Liberty Center, OH/Liberty Center; Agriculture, 3.61) and Rick Pride (Mount Orab, OH/Western Brown; Biology, 3.52).

Three members of the men’s soccer team earned the leagues academic honor – junior Nils Asteberg (Ojersjo, Sweden/Porthalla Gymnasium; Business Administration, 3.89), sophomore Jason Altmayer (Bethel, OH/Bethel-Tate; Business Administration, 3.83) and sophomore Zach Simpkins (Germantown, OH/Valley View; Exercise Science, 3.67).

Senior Taylor Scott (Lynchburg, OH/Lynchburg-Clay; Psychology/Social Work, 3.83) led a trio of women’s soccer players. Sophomores Katie Evans (Leesburg, OH/Leesburg Fairfield; Athletic Training, 3.69) and Hannah Greaney (Dayton, OH/Archbishop Carroll; Sport Management, 3.58) are the other honorees.

Two volleyball players – senior Kara Short (Conover, OH/Fairlawn; Agriculture, 3.88) and junior Hannah Kockentiet (Alpha, OH/Dayton Christian; Political Science, 3.93) – rounded out the academic honors.
