BLANCHESTER — The Blanchester High School reserve girls basketball team was defeated by New Richmond 17-11 Monday night in the season opening game.

Blanchester coach Bradon Pyle said his squad played well defensively in the half-court but struggled against the Lady Lions transition game.

Shelbie Rose led the Ladycats with four points while Lilly Brown, Hayley Wilson and Kassidy Abney had two points each while Holly Scott rounded out the scoring with a free throw.

“We rely a lot on pressing, but when you only make five shots in the game, it doesn’t allow much opportunity to press so we couldn’t really establish what works best for us,” said Pyle.
